Nike Air Max 97 Metallic Silver 2017

Nike Air Max 97 Metallic Silver is brought back in 2017 as part of the 20th-anniversary celebration. Even though it debuted two decades ago, the first original colorway seems timeless. It has always been one of the most iconic colorways in Nike history. Moreover, it also became a part of the culture in some countries, especially in Italy.

After its debut in 1997, the Silver became a phenomenon in Italy. It started among graffiti writers and club scene in big cities such as Milan, Rome, and Naples, before appearing at Milan Fashion Week and spreading across the country. Hyper futuristic and ostentatious aesthetics were the reasons why its popularity had risen rapidly in Italy, where futurism originated.

Many people thought its design is based on Japan’s Bullet Train, as advertised. However, Christian Tresser was inspired by mountain bikes at the time that had titanium metal frames with a silver aluminum finish. One further inspiration came from the waves produced by a drop of water into the pond.

The sneaker features a new technology in addition to the outstanding 360-degree reflective lines made of 3M Scotchlite material. It introduced a revolutionary full-length visible Air unit. Furthermore, it was the first sneaker with a hidden lacing system.

A futuristic design and new technology were the reasons for its success. Moreover, it became a part of the culture and lifestyle of some countries. It will remain a classic piece of all time.
